Woman Charged With Stealing 7.2 Million worth of alcohol

Margret Wanjiku Ruguru, formerly employed at a liquor store, faces charges of stealing alcoholic beverages valued at Sh7,233,919. The accusations were presented before Kibera Chief Magistrate Ann Mwangi, where Ruguru pleaded not guilty.

As per the charge sheet, the alleged theft occurred at various times between January 1 and August 13 at Highbury Liquor Shop, situated along 14 Riverside Drive in Kileleshwa, Nairobi County. The court was informed that Ruguru acted in concert with others, who are not presently before the court. The stolen stock belonged to Purity Kinya Mutheee, the complainant in this case.

Despite the charges, the prosecution did not oppose Ruguru’s release on bond. The magistrate granted her release on a Sh200,000 cash bail, with a similar surety requirement. The case is scheduled for mention later this month.
