Ps Sing’oei defends China Square Owner Over The Ongoing Row

In dispute involving Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria and Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary (PS) Korir Sing’oei over China square, Ps Sing’oei sided with China Square proprietor Lei Cheng.
In a statement released on Sunday, February 26, Sing’oei advised Cheng not to take Kuria’s requests to buy out his lease at the Uni City Mall and turn it over to neighborhood merchants seriously.
He reassured the Chinese investor that there was nothing to worry about as long as he obtained the permits lawfully.

“No lawful investment actor – irrespective of their nationality – should be apprehensive because the country’s investment regime is non-arbitrary and non-discriminatory,” the PS stated.

Just a few days prior, Kuria had claimed that China Square was unfairly in direct competition with neighborhood merchants.
Kuria questioned Cheng’s eligibility for a work permit in the nation, saying he ought to have been registered as a manufacturer rather than a trader.

On the other hand, Senator Samson Cherargei of Nandi protected CS Kuria from the criticism that followed his requests and demanded that the dealer’s license be revoked.

“The core business of government is protectionism measures of local businesses first before foreign businesses. China has created a dumping ground for their substandard goods in Africa it must stop,” Cherargei stated.
