Nakuru is one of the fastest growing towns in Kenya. It boasts of several big hotels, both five stars and four stars. It is also one of the places with the most beautiful tourist attractions. 

According to one Nakuru resident, Owen Kariuki who gave his views on the hotel, he mentioned  Merica, Taidys and Oyster hotels giving his reasons for the rankings. Here is what he had to say:

Personally I think The Merica Hotel along Kenyatta Avenue is the best place when looking for foreign and vintage dishes such as Italian or Mexican food. The customer care services are second to none. It’s a great place for kids as well since you get pizza, French fries or burgers.

If you’re looking for Kenyan cuisine, I propose Taidy’s Hotel. It is located in the town area and in the busy shelves of the town. Though it’s undergoing renovation, it’s a great restaurant/pub where you can get “pilau”, fish or “ugali”. Definitely try the whole fish with rice, which is my personal best.

Lastly, if you’re looking for a serene spot with a great view of Lake Nakuru as well as a cool ambiance, then Oyster Shell in Milimani is the place for you. The Indian-filled menu is a great adventure especially if you have never tasted the legendary “nan” which is a family favourite.

On the other hand, Mercy Akinyi had this to say about the best restaurants in Nakuru. 

Java house – java house has great meals. It’s one of Kenya’s best coffee houses. They have the best brewed coffee ever, and their burgers are so delicious it’s also vegetarian friendly.

Moca local coffee and lounge – you should try their pizza . it’s the best.its also a place to be for cocktail lovers. They offer a variety of African and Western food.

Gilani’s – has a great cocktail and excellent chicken curry. If you are not a meat lover, its also vegetarian friendly and the best place for Indian delicacies too.

Oyster shell restaurants – have a variety of African, Asian and European food. For Indian food lovers, they have lovely Indian cuisine.

Jamia food mart – jamia food mart is the best place to have nice healthy delicious African food. Their roast chicken and fish are the best.
