Well, Mursik is a traditional fermented milk from the Kalenjin community in Kenya. It can be made from cow or goat milk depending on your preference. The milk is fermented in a specially made calabash gourd locally known as a sotet in kalenjin dialect. The gourd is lined with soot from specific trees which add flavor to the fermented milk. Some other community would also use blood as its ingredient.

Nonetheless, you will see most athletes taking mursik. It is believe to be their energizer. Mursik (sour milk) has some benefits too. Some special bacteria are added to it that breaks down milk protein.
