List of Unsafe Countries In Africa to Travel 2023

According to the latest survey by the Expatriate Group, a company that provides travel advice to ex-pats, Kenya is among the world’s most dangerous nations to visit in 2023.
The state was classified in the lowest half and took position 120 out of 190 countries sampled globally.

In Africa, Kenya similarly underperformed after emerging at position 30 and was behind Rwanda and Tanzania in the East African Community (EAC).“Using the Global Peace Index, we looked into the safest and least safe countries that feature on the ranking, taking into account their political situation and risk of crime for travellers,” the report revealed how they settled on the ranking.

Putting into consideration the political instability in Kenya, the panel suggested that tourists heading to the region should have an insurance policy.

Mauritius was voted the safest country in Africa and number 28 globally.“Mauritius has a low crime rate and violent crime in Mauritius is extremely rare. It is also generally safe for women but common sense should be used, as in any location,” the report indicated.

Other nations in Africa that were deemed safe included Sierra Leone, Ghana, Gambia, and Botswana. The nations were placed 40, 45, 48, and 50, correspondingly, on a global scale.

Notably, no East African country ranked among the top five safest in Africa.

Rwanda, which ranks 11 in Africa and 70 overall, is the safest nation in East Africa, whereas Uganda is ranked one position behind Kenya both in Africa and globally.
