The Easter holiday weekend is expected to bring increased bookings, primarily from the domestic market, which will benefit the hotel business. Nairobi is a major source for the 10% increase in bed occupancy that Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) forecasts for the domestic market.
It ascribes the anticipated rise to the ongoing “you deserve a holiday” domestic tourism campaign, which brings together private players marketing domestic travel packages.

KTB regional manager Alex Tunoi said the growing desire of Kenyans to travel and explore their nation was also a significant boost to the campaigns while speaking at the promotional campaign activities in Nanyuki.

“The Easter period is one where we experience increased domestic travel and this campaign comes at the right time as we push to grow tourism further. Our projections show that bed occupancy will rise as we near this crucial holiday period,” Tunoi said.

However, he pointed out that the Easter period, like the Christmas holiday, sees an increase in travel activity, and the campaign will help to further offer the domestic market more reasonably priced travel options.
There is hope that new locations like Nanyuki will present fantastic possibilities for tourists, he continued.
Additionally, over 20 trade partners, including tour operators, hotels, travel agencies, and airlines, have traveled to numerous countries and business organizations over the past six months under his leadership to deliver vacation offers to their doors.
