Racently, the Treasury had allocated for a 11.6 percent pay cut for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, making major deduction in the duo’s salaries during their nine and a half years in office.
On the other hand, the treasury’s additional budget estimates presented to Parliament for review show that the combined annual pay — basic salary and allowances of Uhuru Kenyatta and Dr Ruto will drop from the current Sh41.2 million to Sh36.4 million for the year to June.

However, the tax payer does not pay for his or her personal expenses. S/he pays for all their own personal expenses.
This includes, but is not limited to, all meals (unless directly government business ), groceries, grooming supplies, deodorant, clothing, private vacations and others. However, they don’t pay “rent”, utilities, maintenance & expenses directly related to the roof over their head or their government issued vehicle or other transportation used in official business.
Nonetheless, if it’s official business the President has an expense account and the taxpayer picks up the tab.
If it is personal business, the president pays for it. This however includes his family if they are together.
