A couple recently paid Sh4 million to reserve a space for a three-day Valentine’s stay at a luxurious hotel at the heart of the Maasai Mara.
The couple will celebrate Valentine’s Day in the lavish hotel: Mahali Mzuri, which is owned by British billionaire businessman Richard Branson. It is a popular tourist attraction worldwide.
Despite the global economic unrest, a number of upscale hotels are now requesting millions of shillings from couples seeking the ultimate romantic experience at some of the most magnificent locations domestically and internationally.

The pair purchased the bundle through the travel agency Expeditions Maasai Safaris, which was advertising the deal.
According to the company’s marketing manager Joseph Maina, the deal had mixed reaction on social media. The deal saw more people waiting in line to experience the luxury.

“A couple has already booked for Valentine’s Day and we are trying to negotiate with the hotel for an extension throughout the month of February because more customers have expressed interest,” Mr Maina said.
The h4 million price for three days and two nights will also cater for private chopper rides from the customers’ home to Maasai Mara and back. It will also cater for accommodation in a luxury tent for two nights, all meals, and a private hot air balloon ride over the Mara as well as unlimited access to the Olare Motorogi Conservancy, complete with private game drives.
