Airbnb has announced its ban on parties and events at homes on its platform. This barely comes after a temporary measure during the pandemic that was proved popular with hosts. The firm says the rule has become “much more than a public health measure” since it was introduced in August 2020. This announcement was made by the San Francisco based company
“It developed into a bedrock community policy to support our hosts and their neighbors,” the San Francisco-headquartered firm said.

Consequently, the company said that it had recorded a 44 percent year-after-year drop in the rate of party reports since implementing the policy.

According to CNBC news, Airbnb placed a ban on party houses and rolled out several safety features in 2019 after five people were killed in a shooting at one of its bookings. In 2020, the company instituted a global ban on all parties as the pandemic hit.

However, Airbnb said guests who attempt to go against its rules will face consequences. Their accounts will be suspended to full removal from the platform.
