AFGHANISTAN : AFGHANS WOULD BE FACING FOOD CRISIS

Afghans would be facing food crisis. “The lean winter season is fast approaching”, says UN humanitarian coordinator.  He believes food stocks would be running low this month, adding more crisis to challenges the country is facing as the Taliban rulership takes shape. Around 33% of the country’s populace of 38 million is facing food crisis. With winter coming and an extreme dry spell continuous, more cash is expected to take care of the people.

In recent weeks, UN’s World Food Program has brought in food, however more is needed. Of the $1.3 billion required for aid, only 39% has been received.

“The lean winter season is fast approaching, and without additional funding, food stocks will run out at the end of September,” is reported to have said the UN humanitarian coordinator according to Canadian Broadcasting Corporation(CBC).
